Election Division Records, 1866-1910.

Consists of commissions appointed by the governor for county commissioners of election, whose duty it was to oversee the elections proecss in each county. Also included are certifications for various elections from 1867 to 1900 as well as Governor's proclamations calling for elections in certain parts of Tennessee from 1865-1892. Noteworthy are the proclamations by William G.Brownlow and DeWitt Clinton during the Reconstruction Period. Also the investigation of the disputed election for Governor between Peter Turney and H. Clay Evans in 1895. The register of voters for Sumner county in 1866 contains lists of Union loyalists and includes the regiment that they served.
